Happy ½ Birthday!
If someone told me years ago that I would quit a stable position with a great organization to open a business during a pandemic, I would have never believed them. Now, here we are 6 months into launching my own business and I have so much to be thankful for. One of the things I promised myself when I opened my business was that I would celebrate every success along the way, no matter how small or silly it seemed. I remember sitting in my office on my first day of launching my business with a mix of emotions – excitement, fear, joy, anxiousness. I took all of those emotions, took a deep breath and celebrated. I celebrated the fact that I was following my dream of launching my own professional search firm, the flexibility that this entrepreneurial journey would give me to spend more quality time with my family, and the sense of pride in having the courage to take this leap. I knew I could make a positive difference in the lives and careers of candidates as well as businesses that I would partner with.
A month into my business I celebrated being accepted into the EPIC VentureWomen Program and four months later, I celebrated being awarded as the top business pitch. I celebrated with a virtual lunch with my team. Why? Because without an amazing team, none of this would have been possible. I celebrated each and every placement thus far in Canada and the United States. I celebrated each employee who joined my team, as they were all excited to come along on this amazing journey and believed in me and what we as a team could accomplish. I now have three employees who are so dedicated to our clients and have a passion for this industry. I have celebrated all of their successes so far because as a leader, the greatest feeling is watching your team succeed. I celebrated each and every exciting “yahoo” from a candidate when I extended an offer of employment for their dream job and every “that is amazing news” from a client who has just heard that their star candidate will be joining their team.
I celebrated exceeding where I projected my business to be in year one and it has driven me to set the bar higher as I know there is still so much that I can continue to achieve this year. I celebrated every milestone because as small as it may seem to others, as a small business owner, as an Entrepreneur, these small milestones are monumental to me.
Happy ½ birthday Logic Executive Search. Cheers to everything that we have accomplished in the last six months and to the level of excellence we strive to achieve for next the six months and beyond. I am so, so grateful.
