The Opportunity:
Our client, a consumer electronics company, is looking for a Controller to join their team in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting and finance operations while acting as a trusted financial advisor to the business. The Controller will play a critical role in driving financial performance, strengthening internal controls, supporting growth initiatives, and developing a high‑performing accounting team.

What You’ll Be Responsible For:
- Leading and overseeing all accounting and finance activities, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting.
- Providing strategic financial insights to support business growth, operational efficiency, and long‑term sustainability.
- Partnering with leadership and external stakeholders to support revenue growth, cost optimization, and financial decision-making
- Leading company‑wide risk identification and mitigation efforts across financial, operational, and compliance areas.
- Staying current on accounting, taxation, and financial reporting developments and assessing their impact on the organization.
- Preparing and analyzing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with reporting requirements.
- Establishing budget guidelines and overseeing the development of the annual budget and ongoing forecasts.
- Analyzing financial performance, including profitability, trends, costs, and budget variances, and presenting insights to leadership.
- Overseeing accounts payable and receivable functions to ensure timely processing and payment.
- Directing the preparation and filing of all required tax returns, including GST/HST, U.S. sales tax, corporate taxes, and other regulatory filings.
- Coordinating audits and managing relationships with external auditors and financial partners.
- Evaluating existing controls and recommending enhancements to strengthen financial accuracy and compliance.
- Leading, mentoring, and developing the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
- Participating in the recruitment and onboarding of accounting team members.
- Promoting transparency and alignment by clearly communicating business objectives and the rationale behind key decisions.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or other related disciplines.
- CPA designation is required.
- 5 – 7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
- 5+ years of people leadership or management experience.
- Previous experience with ERP systems is required.
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP accounting standards.
Complimentary Experience:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office with strong Excel capabilities (e.g., VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, IF statements).
- Proven ability to manage large volumes of data with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and time‑management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
