The Opportunity:
Our client, in the manufacturing industry is looking to add a Labour Relations Specialist to their team in Windsor, Ontario. The Labour Relations Specialist will be responsible for leading end-to-end HR functions including unionized talent acquisition and onboarding, labour relations and compliance, health and safety collaboration, employee engagement initiatives, and HR administration, while acting as a trusted advisor to support a positive and productive workplace.

What You’ll Be Responsible For:
- Managing internal and external hourly union recruitment and job postings, including tracking, communications, and documentation such as award/decline letters.
- Conducting orientation sessions for supervisors and designated salaried employees while overseeing the Temporary Part-Time (TPT) program, including recruitment, scheduling, and candidate pool maintenance.
- Leading internal investigations and managing labour relations matters, including serving as the primary contact for Step 2 grievance meetings and facilitating effective resolutions.
- Reviewing and approving coaching and progressive discipline documentation while guiding supervisors on performance management, documentation, and disciplinary processes.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with union representatives while ensuring compliance with the Collective Agreement.
- Supporting Health & Safety initiatives by collaborating with internal teams, participating in committee meetings, and reinforcing organizational goals and strategies.
- Managing accommodation requests and administering leaves of absence (LOA) for hourly union employees, ensuring compliance and a positive employee experience.
- Driving employee engagement by participating in Supervisor Connect meetings, conducting exit interviews, and supporting recognition and incentive programs.
- Preparing termination documentation and maintaining attendance programs to support workforce reliability.
- Generating and analyzing HR metrics, including absenteeism KPIs, while tracking probationary periods and wage progression for compliance.
- Reviewing and delivering union reports and internal communications while maintaining HR templates and ensuring adherence to GMP and Health & Safety standards.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources from an accredited institution.
- 5+ years of progressive HR Generalist experience, ideally within a manufacturing and unionized environment.
- Strong knowledge of HR best practices, labour relations, and employment legislation.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
